HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
August 19th, 2007

Today we celebrate the second anniversary of our parish! Although the founding date was July 1, 2005, the first Sunday Mass was August 21 of that year. Since a parish is not a parish without Sunday Mass, the 21st seems a more appropriate date for celebration (which we observe on the closest Sunday). This is also the day of the second annual parish picnic.
Why are anniversaries important?
On a day like today, we can look once again at our mission and our purpose. We can remember what God wants of us as a parish. Then we can make sure that we are continuing in line with our calling as we plan for the future.
What has happened at Blessed John since August of 2005? More than you can imagine.
 There’s been growth in numbers with more than 450 households presently registered. We will likely reach 500 households by Christmas. Two years ago there were no registered members.
 We have a sound and healthy multi-layered faith formation process with Generations of Faith, important home packets, sacramental prep, RCIA, adult ‘going deeper’ sessions, and small faith groups.
 The Sunday liturgy, along with hospitality and a reverent and inspiring celebration, continues to feed all of us.
 Youth are involved in the parish in many important ways.
 Through our St. Vincent de Paul conference and pastoral care, we are finding more and more ways to reach out. This fall you will likely see more ministries to those who are hurting.
 And we will soon be building our Parish Life Center, where we will have our own space for even more activities and vibrant parish life.
Yes, we have much to celebrate. Thank you for being part of our parish. May the years ahead continue to be filled with God’s blessings!
